Hi, I have an 840 sq ft house. We have 2 wall units. One is in the bedroom and the other in the living room. We will only use the gas to heat the house. We have an electric stove. If it helps, it is only my husband, 2 cats, 1 dog, and myself in the house.

How much propane do you think that we should buy for the winter?

Depends on how well insulated the building is of course. And how windy & cold the heating season is. I would SWAG it at 1000 gallons. It's unfortunate that the fuel is propane; it's more expensive and contains less energy than the same volume of heating oil. Probably beats electric heat though.
