I guess the moral of the story is not to start a climb on slush, 40 degree days, or under water running under the ice, as you go the pro gets worse and worse until it becomes non-existent.

These are not the 5.15's of ice climbing, they are what are either impossible and insane.

here are some other videos of falling climbers:

I think it is a good idea to clip into your ice axes with a shock absorber AND have chest harness with a hook on it if you are a beginner AND have an extra tool. These guys are not tied into their tools. One climber pulls OUT on his tool till it pulls out.

That first one on Will's blog has been picked apart ad nauseum and is now just a pil eof bleached white bones lying in the desert. Watching the last one when the leader puts a screw about 6 feet off the ground.....that's probably your first hint. It's not rock climbing. Putting in screws still takes time and energy. Wasting that energy on a worthless screw only means you are more likely to fall higher up where that screw will do no good.

Well, I made it to the top on the slow train, no thanks to you guys.

It took my sandbagged partner 6 hours to follow the last pitch in -10 degrees. I'm glad we did not have to rap off, even though I left fixed V threads all the way up.

Snow was waist deep to the snowmobile trail. The crux was the easy mixed traverse in the beginning and standing around on the top in the breezes waiting around all night.

I chelated everything out of my body.

Everyone should get one of these tests.

What does this have to do with Lake Willoughby?
