I was soloing a new line between THE RINGS OF SATURN and THE ORBIT OF JUPITER (See http://www.thewhitecliff.com/topos/asteroid.html) with the orange traxion in this photo.

I was reaching over the roof when the traxion sucked my shirt into the teeth of the camming device rendering it near useless. I ripped my shirt so I could keep going, but it did it again in a different part of my button down shirt as I reached over the hang a second time.

There are two things I would advise when climbing with the traxion 1.) Do not climb with a shirt, or else climb with skin tight top. 2.) File off the the lock open tooth on the cam.

If you want to down climb while here in the middle of an overhang or something like this, when you open the jaw so you can back feed the rope it will lock open and the device will be disabled without you knowing it. Some people who use it can not figure out the problem yet, even after I explain it. I have no idea why. File off the tooth fool.

As a back up it is no problem to tie a knot in the rope every so often, and trail a sling with some small carabiners on the rope.

The Mohonk Mountain House and the Mohonk Preserve have done a great job protecting the environment thus far, but ... it's all down hill from here http://youtu.be/9AU8fMo8v4k.
