okay, if i fly out west, any ideas on where to fly to rent the cheapest car? Does vegas have good car rental prices? Cheaper than California?

I am specifically looking for local knowledge of specific companies that may not show up on google. For instance, in Utah I rent my cars from a company that doesnt have a website, and i generally get a midsized car like an impala for $25 a day. So, oh wise-asses of, if you have any such knowledge, please do share.

No idea, but if you find out, please share. I'm planning to head for J-tree in late Feb.

check out

In my climbing travels (Seattle, San Fran, Atlanta, SLC, Philly), I've always rented a Ford Ranger from their website -- for $19.99 - $24.99 a day. They've got the extended cab, locking bed cover, CD (and now, even MP3) player, usu. 4X4, and unlimited miles. You really can't beat it.

Keep in mind that Vegas adds around a 30% tax on the quoted rental rate.
