What's happening up there? Any fallen trees across the carriage road? Did the river flood?

The Jenkins-Leukins historic barn blew over. RIP old barn.

I'm at the Visitor Center and power didn't go out here. Justin, who works in Maintanece and lives near Tillson Lake said it was very windy and scary there yesterday, power went out, but came back on.

I got a tree down on my path to parking, and another just behind cabin, but luckily it wasn't a few degrees different in fall line - It got stopped by a notch in another tree.

Cove Road was open, no trees between Coxing and 44/55. I heard a tree and power line were down just east of Minnewaska entrance earlier today, but since a car came through road from there, I assume it got cleared.

Most people I talked to said they have no real damage, but obviously there are so many not so far away who have really been hit badly. I cannot imagine what NYC is going to be like in next days.

If anyone knows when power is restored on South Mountain road in Gardiner please give a shout. It was down this morning, thanks!

Glad you are okay Terrie.

Total bummer about the barn...Mitch will be sad when I tell him. He liked that old barn.

I'm surprised there isn't more activity on Gunks.com nowadays. With many not able to travel to work, this website may provide temporary boredom relief.

We have 7 trees on our driveway and we are on the west side of the Roundout Valley. Not including other trees that fell in our yard. A tree fell where our power lines were. We buried them 3 years ago. Thank goodness.

Our cabin wasn't touched.

3 trees fell by our apartment on the Upper East side. One was replanted by locals. It was one of the newer trees. I saw at least a dozen trees down in NYC. We are lucky. A lot of my friends in NJ and NYC still have no power.

Take care and be safe.

Burial of such utility lines would be a worthwhile worldwide effort.

I have not gotten an answer yet as to why the numerous conduits that were drilled through our entire area have not yet been used several years later.
