Does anyone know if these races are still being held? If so, is the equipment regulated (in other words could someone race on a 10" travel full-on DH rig)?

Why would you want a sprung DH rig for a ROAD downhill? Give me a pair of 700 x 20c clinchers at 140 psi and it'll coast the doors off a MTB.
Now, if you were planning to, say, take a shortcut through the woods to avoid the hairpin turn...

I think it would be fun to rip down the road with 10" of travel underneath me, plus the benefits of 3" of soft rubber to rail turns faster than I can on my road bike.
These races are still going on. They take place on the 1st Tuesday of each month. The next one is on Aug 4th. Its from Minnewaska to near the end of Clove Road, just under 8 miles. We have no rules on types of bikes, but I'd say you would be going much slower on a mountain bike.
If you want to get in more information sent about these races send me a PM with your email address. I'll add you to the mailing list.
