hiking Acadia & relaxing in Bar Harbor: any suggestions? - 09/06/03 11:28 AM

Hi! My husband and I are flying into Bangor, Maine for five days this fall for a short getaway. We usually like to backpack, but for this trip we will be camping at Acadia Nat'l Park and doing day hikes. We'll probably hit the trails for 3 or 4 days and then stay at a B&B for some R&R -- we're thinking Bar Harbor.

Does anybody have any suggestions for us? We'll be there mid-October.
Thanks.

At low tide it is possible to walk across the harbor. Kinda cool.
Be sure to eat a Lobster for me.

Yes the walk from Bar Harbor to the Bar island, little island just off shore at low tide is cool.

Ocean Path
mellow trail that runs the length of the cost on the parks east side.

Penobscot Mt. Trail
Nice views the whole way up Jordon Ridge. Check out the small pond near the summit.

The Bubbles:
The Beehive Trail:
Precipice Trail:
Rocky steep (as close to 5th class climbing as one can get)

Any trails in Beech Cliff area:
Nice Short but way less crowded
