This year, bowhunting in NYS starts October 1st. Make sure you wear bright hunter orange when hiking, especially off trails.

On the Mohonk Preserve, it starts Oct. 13.

There is a youth-only gun hunting weekend Oct. 6-8 all over NYS.

Be visible and be safe!

Worth mentioning that it's already bear season in most of the ADKs. Bow, shotgun and rifle hunters may be encountered. Wear orange and make some noise.
