Backcountry Guide for NE Skiing? - 01/04/04 12:54 AM
I went back country skiing near Whistler last week. It was really an eye opener to ski with so much snow. Is there a guide to good back country routes in the North east somewhere?
Thanks.

There are two books that I would recommend. Back Country Skiing Adventures: Maine & New Hampshire and Backcountry Skiing Adventures: New York & Vermont.

There is a really good book on backcountry skiing in New England. it is written by David Goodman.
Title: Classic Backcountry Skiing, A Guide to the Best Ski Tours in New England (Appalachian Mountain Club)
It's out of print, apparently. An excellent book.
I have a copy I could lend you... let me know.

They are a mix of both. He lists out everything about the trips well so you get a good sense if it is steep downhill or rolling hills etc.
its worth picking up
