Cool birds. See 'em a lot along the beach in the evening/night nailing down the next meal.

Thanks gents for the ID. A Google-led search of the Web doesn't yield for me an adequate reason for the night heron nomenclature. It's supposedly called that due to its dawn and dusk activity. Yet the same may be said about the eastern gray squirrel. That photo above was taken at midday.

That's 'cause it's a New York City black crowned night heron. They keep different hours.

How does it taste? And don't say chicken it looks too stringy.
